CyberSpaceRSS

Terms of Use

Effective 12 October 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Dayshaun Thompson, an individual based in Illinois, United States, who operates CyberSpaceRSS (“CyberSpaceRSS”, “we”, “us” or “our”). Please read them. Sections 13 and 14 limit our responsibility to you.

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of the CyberSpaceRSS desktop application (the “App”), the browser preview at app.cyberspacerss.com (the “Preview”), the website at cyberspacerss.com and our download address (together, the “Services”). By downloading, installing or using any of the Services, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. If you use the Services on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it.

2. Who may use the Services

You must be at least 13 years old, or the age at which you may lawfully agree to these Terms where you live, if that is older. If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

3. Licence

The Services are provided free of charge. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download, install and use the App on devices you own or control, and to use the Preview and the Website, for your own personal or internal business purposes.

You may not, and may not permit anyone else to:

Security research carried out in good faith and in accordance with our Vulnerability Disclosure Policy is not a breach of these Terms.

4. Updates

The App checks for newer versions and may download and install them automatically. Updates may add, change or remove features. You agree to receive them as part of using the App. We are not obliged to provide updates or to support earlier versions.

5. Third-party content and links

The Services display headlines, short excerpts and links drawn from news publishers and from public agencies, including official warnings and guidance. That material belongs to its respective owners. We do not claim it, do not control it, and are not responsible for its accuracy, legality or availability. A link opens the publisher's own website, which is governed by the publisher's terms and privacy policy.

CyberSpaceRSS is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any publisher or by any government agency, including the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the UK National Cyber Security Centre. A reference to an agency or to its advice does not imply its approval of the Services.

6. Information only; no professional advice

The Services present news and classify each story, including its colour, size and ranking, by automated rules applied to what the source material says. Those rules can be wrong. A story may be shown as more or less serious than it is, a figure may be misread, and information may be late, incomplete or missing.

The Stay safe guides, and any suggestions of what to do, are general educational information. Nothing in the Services is professional cybersecurity, legal, financial or other advice, and nothing in them creates a professional relationship. You are solely responsible for decisions you make and actions you take. Before you act, consult the original source and the maker of the affected product, and where appropriate a qualified professional. If you believe you are the victim of a crime or of fraud, contact your bank and the appropriate authorities.

7. Sensitive content

Security news sometimes concerns distressing subjects. The Services include a setting that hides stories and warnings on certain subjects, and it is switched on by default. The setting works from the wording of headlines and summaries and cannot be guaranteed to catch everything.

8. Intellectual property

The Services, including the App's software, design, text and graphics and the CyberSpaceRSS name and logo, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Except for the licence in section 3, these Terms give you no right, title or interest in them, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved.

If you send us suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use them for any purpose without obligation to you.

Windows and Microsoft Store are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies. Ubuntu is a trademark of Canonical Ltd. Mac is a trademark of Apple Inc. All other names and marks are the property of their owners, and their use here does not imply any affiliation.

9. Open-source and third-party software

The App includes software components that are made available by third parties under open-source licences. Each of those components is licensed to you under its own licence, a copy of which is provided with the App, and nothing in these Terms limits your rights under it.

10. Copyright complaints

We respect the rights of authors and publishers. If you believe that material shown in the Services infringes a copyright you own or control, send a notice to hello@cyberspacerss.com that includes: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification of the material you say is infringing and where it appears; (c) your name, address, telephone number and email address; (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorised to act for the owner; and (f) your physical or electronic signature. We will review each notice and remove or disable material where appropriate.

11. App stores

If you obtain the App from an app store such as the Microsoft Store, the store's own terms also apply to you. The store's operator is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. To the extent the store's terms that apply to you are more restrictive than these Terms, the store's terms govern your use of the copy obtained from it. In the Microsoft Store, the App is published under the publisher name “Jae’s SW”, which is a name we publish under and not a separate company; these Terms remain an agreement between you and us.

12. Changes to the Services; termination

We may change, suspend or discontinue all or any part of the Services at any time, without notice or liability. Your licence continues until it ends. It ends automatically, without notice, if you breach these Terms. You may end it at any time by ceasing to use the Services and uninstalling the App. Sections 5, 6, 8 to 10 and 13 to 18 survive the end of your licence.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY ARISING FROM A COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES OR ANY INFORMATION IN THEM WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR FREE OF ERRORS, OR THAT USING THE SERVICES WILL PREVENT, DETECT OR WARN YOU OF ANY SECURITY INCIDENT, FRAUD OR LOSS.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR GOODWILL, OR FOR THE COST OF ANY SECURITY INCIDENT, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS, INCLUDING ANY LOSS CAUSED BY RELYING ON INFORMATION THE SERVICES SHOW OR FAIL TO SHOW, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE AND (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liability, so some of sections 13 and 14 may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or affects rights that you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country where you live.

15. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Services. This section does not apply to you to the extent that the consumer protection law of the place where you live prohibits it.

16. Export and sanctions

The Services are subject to the export control and sanctions laws of the United States and may be subject to those of other countries. You may not use, export or re-export the Services except as those laws allow. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a comprehensive U.S. embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to the Services, are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

Before bringing a claim, you agree to contact us at hello@cyberspacerss.com and to try in good faith for thirty days to resolve the matter informally. Subject to that, you and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the State of Illinois. If you are a consumer resident in a country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own courts, or the benefit of its mandatory consumer protections, nothing in this section takes that away.

18. General

Changes to these Terms. We may revise these Terms. When we do, we will post the revised Terms on this page with a new effective date. A material change takes effect fourteen days after it is posted; other changes take effect when posted. Your continued use of the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Vulnerability Disclosure Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services and replace any earlier understanding.

Severability and waiver. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it will be enforced to the extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them, including to a company formed to operate the Services or to a successor operator.

No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms confer no rights on anyone other than you and us.

19. Accessibility

We want the Services to be usable by everyone. The App's list view can be used with a keyboard and with a screen reader, and the Website respects your system's reduced-motion setting. The Services have not been formally audited against an accessibility standard. If you meet a barrier, tell us at hello@cyberspacerss.com and we will try to remove it.
